Abstract: | Torticollis is given as a general name for the state in which the head is drawn to one side with the chin pointed toward the opposite shoulder. It is classified by its origin : neurogenic, osteogenic, musculogenic, etc. Chiari malformation is often associated with torticollis. However, few explanations have been attempted for this mechanism so far. Recently we experienced two cases of Chiari malformations associated with torticollis and inquired into the source of torticollis in Syringomyelia which is accompanied by Chiari malformation. In Gardner's "hydrodynamic theory" and Williams' "Sucking theory" etc. Chiari malformation has important significance for the formation of the syrinx. In this report, we describe the importance of torticollis which is latent in Chiari malformation associated with Syringomyelia. |
