Abstract: | Clinical observations were performed during the first 5 years (1996.7-2001.7)
of new patients at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Takai Hospital. The
followlng results were obtained.
1. The total number of new patients was 4,080. The male-female ratio was 1:1. Many of
the patients were in their 20s. The youngest patient was 6 months old and the oldest
patient was 100 years old.
2. The yearly average number of new patients was 780. 1,844 patients (45.2%) had
diseases associated with oral and maxillofacial surgery, and 2,236 patients (54.8%) were
dentistry.
3. More than 75% of the patients resided in Nara City, Tenri City, and Yamatokoriyama
City.
4. 974 patients (69.7%) who had diseases associated with oral and maxillofacial surgery
were referred from dental offices, within the hospital and other hospitals. The number
of patients introduced to our hospital year by year.
5. 1,118 patients (27.4%) were medically compromised patients, and these patients were
almost all more than 60 years old. Of medically compromised patients, hyper tension
was found in 510 patients (36.9%).
6. The number of inpatients who underwent an operation in the central room was 272
cases, and mainly resulting from maxillofacial trauma. The number of in out patients
was 967 cases, and most of them receiving extraction of impacted third molar. |
