| Abstract: | We performed automated lamellar keratoplasty using rabbit eyes. Risks
and benefits of microkeratome were explored by examining histopathologicai change of
corneas following surgery. In cases with seccessful procedure, corneas were clear and
smooth. However, in cases with troubles during surgery, severe scar formation and
epithelial downgrowth were observed. Intraoperative warming and cooling had little
influence on the outcome of surgery. For successful surgery using microkeratome, develop-
ment of a more safe surgical system Is considered to be necessary. |
