Abstract: Parotin subunit was localized immunohistochemically in the apical region of the duct cells in monkey salivary glands using anti-parotin subunit polyclonal antiserum by both indirect immunofluorescence and indirect immunoperoxidase techniques. Most intense reactivity was observed in the striated duct cells among the duct system cells. In addition, specific immunoreactivity was also detected in the collecting tubules of the kidney and the cells of the pancreatic duct system. It is supposed that parotin subunit plays a role in duct formation.
